ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

5. Candidates seeking admission into AFIT Pre-National Diploma (Pre-ND) and National Diploma (ND) programmes are to write entrance examination. Those intending to pursue Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre-HND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programmes would be offered direct entry admission if they meet the entry requirements. The entry qualifications for programmes offered in AFIT are detailed below:

a. Pre-National Diploma (Pre-ND) Programmes - Aircraft Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology & Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology.

(1) Pass in entrance examination and;

(2) Minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC with at least a pass in English Language and credit passes in 3 subjects in not more than 2 sittings. The subjects must include mathematics, physics or chemistry and one other subject from additional mathematics, statistics, technical drawing, woodwork and metalwork.

b. National Diploma (ND) Programmes - Aircraft Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology & Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology.

(1) Pass in entrance examination and;

(2) Minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC with at least a pass in English Language and credit passes in 5 subjects in not more than 2 sittings. The subjects must include mathematics, physics, chemistry and 2 other subjects from additional mathematics, biology,geography, statistics, technical drawing, auto-mechanics and metal work or,

(3) Five credit passes in an NBTE recognized Pre-ND course. The credit passes must include mathematics, physics, chemistry and any 2 of the other science subjects listed in Paragraph 5b(2) above. Candidates must in addition obtain at least a pass in English Language.

c. National Diploma (ND) - Business Studies.

(1) Candidates should possess a minimum of WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE with 5 credit passes in English Language, mathematics and 3 other subjects from economics/commerce, business methods, principles of accounts, statistics, geography, agricultural science, government and biology or,

(2) Credit passes in an NBTE recognized Pre-ND examination in English Language and mathematics and 3 other relevant subjects listed in Paragraph 5c(1) above.

d. Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre-HND) - Aircraft Engineering Technology.

(1) ND with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science Engineering and;

(2) A minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience.

(3) In exceptional cases, the diplomate with ND at pass level (CGPA of 2.0 – 2.49) who has 2 or more years of post-ND cognate work experience may be considered for admission into the Pre-HND programme.

e. Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes.

(1) ND with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50 and above) in Aircraft Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology or Business Studies and;

(2) A minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience.

(3) In exceptional cases, the diplomate with ND at pass level (CGPA of 2.0 – 2.49) who has 2 or more years of post-ND cognate work experience may be considered for admission into the HND programme.

f. Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes. A minimum grade of second class honours in engineering, material sciences or physics.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

6. The entrance examination is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 15 May 2010 by 1000hrs. Candidates are to choose their examination centers from the list of centers provided in the application forms. Candidates are advised to arrive the venue for all necessary screening and identification by 0800hrs. Latecomers will not be allowed into the examination hall.

MODE OF APPLICATION 

7. Interested candidates are to download the application forms from AFIT website: www.afitnigerianairforce.gov.ng or www.airforcetech.net. Duly completed forms by civilians are to be accompanied by certified bank drafts of N3,500:00 (for the Pre-ND, ND and Pre-HND programmes) and N5,000:00 (for HND and PGD programmes) drawn in favour of AFIT Kaduna. Completed forms and certified bank drafts are to be submitted by hand or through FedEx Express courier service not later than Thursday, 15 April 2010 to the following address:
